With the U.S. facing an acute shortage of math and science teachers, and public school students testing well below grade levels in these subjects, the EnCorps Teachers Program is forging unique public-private partnerships to increase the number of critically-needed math and science teachers in public middle and high schools.
An innovative public-private initiative launched by Sherry Lansing and the Governor's Committee on Educational Excellence, the EnCorps Teachers Program creates a world-class pipeline of math and science educators by providing an array of structured early classroom experiences, such as tutoring and mentoring students. These early classroom experiences help gauge whether an engineer, chemist or other science or math professional fit in challeng`ing classroom settings while immediately providing the benefits of their subject expertise to the students, teachers, and schools that they are assisting, enhancing the understanding of math and science available to students and supporting college readiness.
To-date, we’ve helped more than 1100 professionals thoughtfully consider teaching as their next career and we are rapidly expanding our first-rate EnCorps Educators recruitment and training programs.
